Mike Butler
for Board of
Education.

"A Voice for Teachers, Students & Parents."
I'm a retired Talbot County educator with more than 20 years of experience, and I want to continue serving young people, teachers, parents, and taxpayers by seeking a seat on the Board of Education in District 4.

A Lifetime of Service
to Our Community
For those who don't know me, I'm Mike Butler, local to Talbot County. I was raised in Talbot County and attended Easton's elementary, middle, and high schools before graduating from Easton High School, Chesapeake College, and Salisbury University.
I'm a husband, father, and proud grandfather of five grandchildren, all of whom are enrolled in four different Talbot County schools. My wife, Brenda Forbes-Butler (formerly Swartz), and I live in Cordova.
My adult life has centered on children and community service, in the classroom, on the field, and on the court. I want to continue serving young people, teachers, parents, and taxpayers throughout Talbot County by seeking a seat on the Board of Education in District 4.

Three Core Priorities
Mike's platform is built on a simple belief: when we raise the standard and hold to it, students rise with it. Here is where he will start.
Accountability & Discipline
Standards with consequences, not just suggestions.
Mike believes schools work best when expectations are clear, applied the same way for everyone, and backed by real consequences. Discipline is not about punishment; it is about respect for students, teachers, and the classroom itself. When the standard slips, everything else follows.
What This Means
- Enforce a consistent code of conduct in every school
- Back teachers when they uphold classroom standards
- Publish academic and behavioral results honestly
- Hold the administration and board to the same bar
Family Partnerships
Parents deserve a seat at the table.
Mike trusts parents to know what is best for their children. He will push for straight talk from the district and real avenues for families to weigh in on the decisions that shape their kids' education.
What This Means
- Plain-language updates instead of district jargon
- Real parent input before major policy changes
- Protect parental rights and family values
- Open meetings and accessible board records
Meaningful Life Skills
Every student deserves a path that fits them.
Not every graduate heads to a four-year college, and that is fine by Mike. He wants Talbot County to honor trades, the military, and the workforce the same way it honors a diploma, so students leave school ready to earn a living and contribute.
What This Means
- Grow vo-tech, apprenticeship, and trade programs
- Keep AP, dual-enrollment, and college-prep strong
- Partner with local employers on real work experience
- Respect every path: workforce, military, trade, or college
